Where to Ask for Jail and Record Information

Wheaton, MN 56296

The county describes the jail and dispatch operation as staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, but public lobby, visitation, data-request, and records service hours should be confirmed before visiting. Traverse County's data-practices policy says public data requests must be made in writing, are handled during normal business hours, and copies may carry fees.

Use the source that matches the kind of record or custody status you need:

  • For someone held at the Traverse County Jail / Traverse County Detention Center, start with jail inmate records and then call 320-422-7800 if the PDF roster is stale or unclear.
  • For booking images or warrant-list photos, use the jail roster mugshots guide and ask the sheriff how to submit a written data request when the photo is not online.
  • For formal charges, hearings, filed documents, or certified records after arrest, use court records after a jail arrest and contact Traverse County Court Administration when MCRO is limited.
  • For facility-specific details, use the Traverse County Jail / Traverse County Detention Center page linked in the footer.
  • For a sentenced Minnesota state prisoner, use the Minnesota Department of Corrections public viewer rather than the county roster.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP inmate locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator; Traverse County does not have a local BOP or ICE detention facility listed in official sources.
